What is an apprenticeship?

An apprenticeship is a form of training where individuals learn a skilled trade through a combination of on-the-job training and classroom instruction. It involves working under the guidance of a licensed professional in a specific field to gain practical experience while also attending related technical classes to acquire theoretical knowledge.

Cape May Tech offers related technical classes that can help earn the status of NJ Journeyman Electrician and NJ  Electrical Contractor. Students in this program must take a minimum of 144 hours of classroom instruction per year for four years, totaling 576 hours of classroom instruction. In addition, students must complete 8,000 hours of on-the-job training,


How can I qualify?

Candidates are required to have a high school diploma or equivalent. They must also take the CASAS exam and achieve a qualifying score. Prospective students should be employed full-time in the field under the supervision of a licensed professional, with their employer or union agreeing to serve as their sponsor.



Tuition is $3,500/year
